Its purpose is to advance practice, research and theory, as well as to promote interdisciplinary dialogue between practitioners and scholars in the wider field of music and health.\r\n\u200b\r\nWhile retaining the overall conference theme at its heart, the Commission pays specific attention to contemporary pedagogical practices and curricula with and for disabled people; therapeutic interventions and applications of music within diverse settings within and beyond special education; socio-cultural and interdisciplinary perspectives on music practices for promoting people\u2019s health and wellbeing.\r\n\r\nI warmly welcome you to the 2024 pre-conference seminar of the ISME Commission on Special Music Education and Music Therapy which will be hosted together by The University of Helsinki and Music Centre Resonaari. Building on the Commission\u2019s history of practice innovation and international development, this seminar aims to promote interdisciplinary and cross-cultural dialogue within the broader music and health arena. The Commission&#8217;s seminar had to be held remotely, hosted by Music Centre Resonaari.\r\n\r\nThis year, however, we have the opportunity to meet each other in summery Helsinki. We can look forward to a rewarding and diverse seminar, and there will also be time for sharing and togetherness. Professional sharing and networking provide ideas, strength and enthusiasm for our own work. Easiest way to buy tickets and find routes is HSL app. Buy tickets, find routes and stay up-to-date with any service changes. You can download the HSL app from your app store for free.\r\n\r\nTICKET ZONES\r\nZone AB is for city centre area, including seminar venues. Single ticket costs 2,95 Euros and  is valid for 80 minutes.\r\n\r\nZone ABC ticket is needed if you travel from the airport to the city centre. Airport train station is located in the corridor between Terminals 1 and 2. Tickets can also be bought from ticket machines at the airport. Board the P or I train towards Helsinki Central Railway station. Journey takes about 30 minutes. A single ABC-ticket costs 4,10 \u20ac and is valid for 90 minutes.\r\n\r\nThere are also day tickets and multi-journey-ticket available.\r\n\r\n\r\nNOTE\r\nThe metro station \u201cCentral Railway Station\u201d is closed due to renovations. Metro line does not operate between Kamppi shopping center and University of Helsinki stations in the city center. Distances in the center are walkable, but for example tram no 9 operates between these stations. It is good to be aware of data protection and confidentiality when connecting to free wifis.\r\n\r\nFree wifi at the University (days 1-3).\r\n\r\nEduroam is an international wireless roaming service for staff, students, and members of the eduroam network.
